How did you fall into the world of being a Digital Account Director?
Soon after graduating college with a degree in Marketing, I moved back to New York to pursue a career in Advertising at top tier agency, Digitas. I quickly climbed the ranks within the Media Technology world and after two years, left to swim in bigger waters as at Yahoo. While there I started my own event production company, KM Productions. My first party drew over 700 people and scored major media attention. After a few months, I decided pursue my entrepreneurial endeavors full time. Fast forward to the present, where I am currently working as a Digital Account Director for Mirrorball - an Award Winning Consumer Engagement Agency.
What was one of your most challenging projects and how did you manage to pull through?
Every day is a challenge. The majority of projects I oversee are a first for my client and some for this agency. I come from large digital agencies, so to come to a smaller experiential shop and be one of the only digital heads is a challenge in itself.
Besides working as a Digital Account Director, I know you run a blog called The Downtown Diaries. How did this come about?
During my stint of (f)unemployement, I was going out a lot, promoting my event production company, and networking. I read a lot of blogs and thought if these people can do it, why can’t I? After a night of partying it up at Mr. West with Katy Perry and Rihanna, The Downtown Diaries was born.
The Downtown Diaries -- what’s it all about? Give us the scoop.
Downtown Diaries is pretty much everything you need to know - 14th street and below and Brooklyn. I live in Williamsburg and tend to chill there on the weekends, but I go out in the city during the week. I used to be really into the club scene but now I’m kinda over it. I will only go if there is a sick DJ or performance of some sort.
Name two restaurants and two clubs/bars that everyone should know about.
I’ve been going to Mulberry Project a lot recently. It's a great place to meet up with someone for drinks and grab a quick bite. In Williamsburg, I recommend going to Rose Live Music before it closes forever! Great cocktails, food, and live music!
