If you haven't heard the buzz about Mary C &The Stellars, you will soon.
Opening for grammy nominated bands like Thievery Corporation, performing at The Cape Cod Jazz Festival and holding down a residency at NYC's Bitter End are just a few of the things that have been keeping Mary C and the Stellars busy.
The daughter of NYC Jazz artist Mercedes Hall and creative manager Tom Chestaro, Mary C has been surrounded and influenced by music all her life. She attended the prestigious Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and the Performing Arts, where a number of famed singers/actors have graduated from. But whether her talent stems from good genes or schooling, doesn't matter because this singer/songwriter has something to offer. Her style can't exactly be pinpointed and she admits she draws inspiration from various areas, including the 60's motown and southern rock music she grew up listening to. Her voice is strong, as is her presence, and with the Stellers performing behind her, she is unstoppable. Some have likened her sound and style to artists including Joss Stone, Duffy, and Adele, all performers that have that soulful edge to them. Her latest CD
Right on Time has a number of strong tracks including
Get Me Through and
Paper Moons, where you can really hear her vocal range and feel the raw emotion she puts into her pieces.
