Inspired to come together musically after commiserating over life's upsets, the Punch Brothers have released four albums and a documentary to date. Their style has been described as "bluegrass instrumentation and spontaneity in the structures of modern classical." In 2007 the band released
How To Grow A Woman From The Ground, which earned them a Grammy nomination. In 2008 they released
Punch and in 2010 they released
Antifogmatic, which consisted of both traditional bluegrass and newgrass styles. Their newest album,
Who's Feeling Young Now? was released this month and publications like The New Yorker and The Guardian in the UK are giving it the thumbs up. Critics agree that this new album, which has been described as "rugged pop with shades of rockish anguish" will allow for expansion and a wider audience.
In addition to music, the band has recently been involved in the documentary "How to Grow A Band" which "explores the tensions between individual talents and group identity, art and commerce, youth and wisdom."
