The Black Keys -- Dan Auerbach (vocalist/guitarist) and Patrick Carney (drummer/producer) -- are a three-time Grammy Award winning blues, alternative rock band born on the holy grounds of Akron, Ohio in 2001. The band has released seven studio albums and have no plans to slow down.
The band does something different on every album. Their second album, "Thickfreakness" (2003), was recorded entirely in Carney's basement on an 8-track tape recorder from the early 1980s. "The Rubber Factory," their third release, was recorded in an abandoned coal burning power plant in Akron. In between these two albums they released an EP, "Chulahoma," a tribute to the raw, rough music of Mississippi bluesman Junior Kimbrough.
In 2009, the Black Keys and several hip hop artists released "Blacroc on Black Friday," recorded in Brooklyn, New York. Tonight's featured track "Run Right Back" appears on the band's latest album, "El Camino," produced by DJ Danger Mouse.
