- Mayer Hawthorne was a Hip Hop MC, DJ and obsessive record collector before he became a singer.
Born in 1979, Hawthorne grew up with a deep respect for the musical traditions of Detroit. In 2009 Hawthorne released his debut album, "A Strange Arrangement," which sounded like an album produced back in the 60's by Berry Gordy and the Funk Brothers. The album displayed a vintage R&B sound and catchy melodies that Hawthorne crafted and penned from the ground up. On his second album, "How Do You Do," the vintage Motown-sound artist continues right where he left off.
